ROUTE FROM 18th TILL 25th AUG 2018

First edition of the VWGC Romania. An adventure that will take you deep into this wonderful and unknown ex-communist country, where we will drive the Transfagarasan Road across the Carpathians. As you might know, this is considered one of the best roads in the world -even by Jeremy Clarkson himself. We’ll also drive through Transylvania where we will dicover the story of Vlad Dracul, also known as Dracula. Nature, dirt tracks, beautiful cities, and remnants of communist factories will be the framework of this adventure, designed to do with 100% stock cars. Saturday Aug 18th Oradea

Meeting point in our Hotel in Oradea where all the challengers will spend the night together before the start of the adventure next morning

Sunday Aug 19th Oradea – Bistrita 260 kms

First day of adventure to start the discovery of Romania. We’ll drive from Oradea to Cluj, the 3rd largest town of the country, which still has much hungarian influence. Already in this first stage you will start to see the contrasts between remnans of communism and modernity. From Cluj there we’ll take nice back roads to enjoy until Bistrita, end of our first stage.

Monday Aug 20th 2018 Bistrita – Sighisoara 390 kms

On our second stage we’ll go to the Saxon towns, curious for their color and location. From Bistrita we’ll take will drive through very twisty routes to the amazing Gorges of Bicaz. After that stop we’ll continue with our drive across the nature to the walled city of Sighisoara, where we’ll have time to have a nice walk in the historical center. There we’ll visit the house where Vlad Dracul, more known as Dracula was born, and you’ll also know his terryfing story full of blood and murders.

Tuesday Aug 21th Sighisoara – Sinaia 200kms

Our 3rd stage we’ll have again a lot of nature. We’ll start driving through magnificent forests in the the first part of the day up to Brasov. This beautiful city has a cathedral that could well remind us of the Pillars of the earth. Though, maybe you’ll be more interested to know that some years ago a man was killed and eaten by a wild bear in a park of the town. From Brasov we’ll do some take some great off road tracks to Bran, where we’ll visit the Castle of Count Dracula. Eventually, after more off road tracks we’ll reach Sinaia after crossing the Busteni National Park to reach Sinaia, in the heart of Transylvania, a place with astonishing landscapes.

Wednesday Aug 22nd Sinaia – Sambata 310 kms

If you love cars and driving -and of course you do- this will be the best stage of all, and maybe one of the reasons why you signed up for this adventure. Because we’ll drive through one of the best roads around to world. An unforgattable, unbelievebly amazing road that crosses the Carpathians from one side to the other. During the constructions, a lot of workers lost their lifes, but the creation of the communist dictator Chaechescu had to be completed, and so he did in order to be remembered as the man who built the impossible road across the Carpathians. The result is this masterpiece, a road that can’t be compared to any other in the world. Crazy corners, amazing views and an indescribable experience that you’ll never forget for sure. End of the stage we’ll be in Sambata, next to the most important ortodox monestry in the country.

CLIMAX: Transfagarasan Road

Thursday Aug 23rd Sambata – Sibiu- Orastie 200 kms

On our 4th journey we’ll start with fantastic off road tracks. Again, a lot of nature, forrests and fantastic views to start the day. After that we’ll take a road to Sibiu, that we’ll bring us again to a reality full of contrasts between nature, remans of huge old communist factories, nice towns and modernity. In Sibiu, we’ll have time to visit the town, which again has a remarkable historical center. Eventually, we’ll take new back roads and off road tracks to reach our Hotel, another breathtaking unique place. Prepare your guns because for one day you’ll join the army.

Friday Aug 24th Orastie – Timisoara 190 kms

In our last stage we’ll have a little nice suprise to start the day. Not onlt off road tracks but a suprise that you’ll haveto sign up to discover. Later in the morning we’ll leave to our final destination: Timisoara, town of the famous romanian beer Timisoerana, that of course you’ll be able to drink in the final VWGC Romania party. And with this typical VWGC party, you will have written the story of the historic first romanian edition of the VW GOLF CHALLENGE. we hope you’ll have enjoyed!
