Saturday March 23th Algeciras-Azrou

Going south

Ferry-Border crossing.

The first day in Morocco we will go straight to the south, doing more than 400 kms (almost all of them in the motorway) to reach Azrou « The door of the Atlas mountains ».

Sunday March 24th Azrou-Imilchil

The Atlas mountains

On Sunday you will have the first real adventure journey, with a lot of of-road tracks crossing the Azrou forests, and crossing very small towns while driving up to the Atlas, and reaching high altitude. We will spend the night in Imilchil, at 2200m of altitude.

Monday March 25th Imilchil-Agoudal-Desert camp

Camping night

We will start the day with good driving through amazing roads, enjoying very impressive landscapes and views of the high mountains full of snow; you will reach more than 3000m high with your Golfs in the way to the Tislit Lac.

From that fantastic place, you will drive down the Dades Valley, on one of the more famous roads around the world: the Dades Road: crazy corners and very nice views will make you enjoy the drive.

Later, we’ll move to the Todra canyon, another amazing place with huge rock walls, where we will camp for the night.

Tuesday March 26th Desert Camp- Nekob – Zagora

After spending some days in the Atlas, on Tuesday we will drive through a very different areas ; First we’ll find the Palm, and then we’ll keep on driving to the south across huge arid and flat areas on the way to Zagora where you will find a lot of straight lines and the firsts kamels.

Wednesday March 27th Zagora-Merzouga

Navigation challenge

On this day you will drive across the desert, and only using the maps and road book to navigate without your GPS. Get ready for the sand of the desert, and assume that you will get stuck there once at least

Thursday March 28th Merzouga

Solidarity activity

After a lot of days of long driving journeys, this day you will have the shortest track of all. Though, you will drive on one of the old Dakar tracks, on the way to a restaurant in the middle of nowhere. In the evening, you’ll have to drive back to Ali el Cojo. But again, drive with good technique if you don’t want to spend too many hours stuck in the sand. Anyway, if you do so just enjoy and let the friends push your car to get out of the trouble.

On the way we will deliver the solidarity equipment, school supplies, clothing, shoes …

Friday March 29th Merzouga-Midelt

Closing Party

After many days in the desert, on Friday we’ll start to drive to the north. In the morning you’ll cross the Ziz Valley, with more than 200.000 palms, and then straight to the Plateau de Rekkam, one of the biggest extension of land, and crossing the Atlas again to reach Midelt.

There we’ll stay in the best hotel of the week, where you will have a really comfortable bed. We’ll have a nice dinner all together as the official end of the party.

Saturday March 30th Midelt-Melilla-Almería

Back home

After the end of the party in Midelt, on Saturday you’ll have a easy road track on the way to Melilla, where you will cross the border to spanish territory. Once there, you’ll have the opportunity of drink cold and cheap beers, while discussing with VWGC friends all the experience lived during the week.
